Team Meraki in Conversation with Team Elixir Biomedical representing DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering, Mumbai- Winners of Meraki 2014. Team Members Kevin Shah, Parth Repe, Karthik Hariharan, Gururaj Masali, Mrunal Rane explain how their venture has plans to launch medical devices for improved health care administration in the private and public sector hospitals in India.
Team Meraki: What inspired you to make a product which could help nurses?
Team Elixir: We had met our teacher whose mother was a nurse at a hospital in Mumbai. While we spoke with her and she shared the problems she faced as a nurse we decided to do something about it and made this product which is cost effective and would help the nurses. The first device in our product helps administer and monitor saline/blood levels of patients and it has already done successful trials in hospitals.
Team Meraki: How did the feedback from the judges help you?
Team Elixir: The feedback helped us in various ways. They diverted our attention to various aspects we had not thought of or concentrated on. This has given us path to move on in the near future. Though our product has already launched with collaborative incubators, we have lots of other products in the pipeline as well and the feedback will help us further improve the quality. The judges also gave us new ideas like to work on getting an ISI mark for which we are thankful to them.
Team Meraki: Now that you have won the competition how do you feel?
Team Elixir: We feel really excited and happy since we needed this fund to continue our activities as planned. We cant wait to go back and work on improving the product and make it more marketable.
